With over two decades of experience as a writer and web designer, Amelia draws upon a stable of writing styles and extensive website creation experience. Amelia Rhodeland has expertise in communications, social media content creation, web design and website management, copy editing, graphic design and data visualization.

 

Web design

  • Designed and managed websites using Squarespace and Wordpress for the Umpqua National Forest, the Hearnes Photography, the Community Yoga Celebration, and others

  • Managed the launch of the park page for St. Johns Prairie Bike and Pedestrian Trail on the Metro Regional Government’s website, writing copy and coordinating across departments and jurisdictions to get the page live within 10 weeks

  • Got an early start by creating two award-winning websites: “The Story of Walt Disney” for National History Day (2001) and “J.J. the Baby Gray Whale,” which won Best of Contest in ThinkQuest Jr. (1998)

Writing

  • Wrote blog posts and articles for employers, including the Bureau of Land Management, Louisiana Bucket Brigade, and the Hearnes Photography

  • Edited, designed layout, solicited and produced content for Forest Service internal newsletter

  • Copy editing wizard with over 20 years of experience

Social media

  • Coordinated social media for employers, including the Cottage Grove Ranger District of the Umpqua National Forest, and the Community Yoga Celebration

  • Used Canva and Unfold to create social media content for the Forest Service, the Hearnes Photography, and others

Visual storytelling

  • Led the data visualizations for social science research on the racial and ethnic and gender diversity of the Forest Service workforce, in partnership with the US Forest Service. Composed an accessible color scheme for those with color blindness and other visual impairments, and created data visualizations depicting several variables in an easy-to-read format

  • Designed the style guides of other applied research as well, including for the Winery Visitor Profile (2019) and the materials within the Proposed Framework for the Lane Regional Resiliency Collaborative (2020)
